GUIDELINES IN FINDING CNE FOR APRNS

(These guidelines are used only to assist the advanced practice nurse when considering CNE for renewal. The nurse should use his/her personal judgment when selecting a CNE)

CNE for advance practice nurses is formal training that includes any of the following:

1. Provides new knowledge and skills to assist with advanced clinical decision making; or
2. Designed to maintain or enhance knowledge, skills and/or professional attitudes of APRN practice; or
3. Supports innovation and creativity in APRN practice; or
4. Addresses new and developing standards of APRN practice.
