The major purpose and focus of the Kansas State Board
of Nursing is to:
"Protect the Public Health, Safety and Welfare
of the Citizens of Kansas through the Licensure and Regulation Process."
Public trust is the most important aspect of the
Board's work. The Board accomplishes this goal through:
Licensure of nurses and mental
health technicians, certification of advanced registered nurse
practitioners, and authorization of registered nurse anesthetists
Accreditation of schools of
nursing and mental health technician programs
Approval of continuing nursing
education providers and offerings
